There be Mutants Beyond Those Rocks!

There be mutants beyond those rocks! Well... that's what I titled my second painting. I like that it has a very classic science fiction name to go wit the imagery. I think for future reference for me, I should go closer to the main subject in the painting, just so he doesn't seem so insignificant. I hope you enjoy!

You can also go to my deviantart gallery to see This Painting in it's scanned form.

Upcoming Mini A-Kon and the recent Sci-Fi Expo

Hey everybody! So to start off, I will be at the upcoming Mini A-Kon in Denton. There are a lot of great artists and voice actors attending, so you need to be there! I will have a few things for sale there. It is kind of a last minute thing, but I think it will be a load of fun, and I believe it is free! Check out their site to learn more. Seriously guys, be there. Be there, or I'll have to ask you again to be there.
Now, the wrap up of the Sci-fi Expo. I have to start off with thanking everyone that purchased items from me. Thank you so much. Your support helps me keep getting tables and bringing artwork to you. You guys are the reason I am able to do this. I also want to thank everyone that managed to stop by and visit! You all are absolutely awesome too! I had some peeps stop by and drop off really interesting literature! Thank you all for that. Give me a week or so and I'll be able to go through all of my goodies and respond to you! I was able to get some new pin-ups drawn! (Cad Bane, Batwoman, Fisto, Yoda, Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa and R2-D2)

Sadly, I do not have a pic of the Batwoman. I will have to get the owner of that piece to send me a pic of it. Hum, hum, Rob, can you send me a scan of the art I sold you? Please?

Reese and I at my Sci-Fi Expo Art Booth
My fondest moment of the Expo was on Saturday. A young girl named Reese came by and purchased the full set of Xenex Comics. She also got a poster and a handful of postcards and magnet swag! She was very excited to read the comics and was so happy to have them signed! She made my day! She came back to the booth the following day to give me a print of her work! It is great! I had her sign it and I can not wait to frame it up and put it on my art wall! (an Updated picture will be posted at a later date.) Reese, if you are reading this, you absolutely rock! Thank you so very much!

Just as a reminder, I was able to purchase a table for the Dallas Comic Con 2012 show. So, if you missed this last show, you have another chance in May...

Trying my hand at a second painting. Hope it goes well.

First painting posted at deviantart.com
Second painting
Recently I posted a painting that I had been working on, off and on for while, the other day on deviantart. The response was a load better than what I had been expecting. Keeping that in mind, I have decided to try my hand at another one. Now, for you all that know that I have a lot on my plate, this is something that I work on in my bits of spare time. I am still working on the comic. Xenex is almost done with its writing. And then, I knock out those pages. And yes, I am still working on the promised pin-ups. I will have to admit though, I am really enjoying the painting process and now have even more respect for Earl Norem and the painting illustrators of the past. I might actually consider painting the cover of the first Xenex book (issue 1-? bound together in graphic novel form). We'll see. But for now, you can enjoy what I have so far of the second painting.

An experiment is t-shirt designs- #1 A flock of Smeagle

Ok, so I have been trying my hand at doing Tee shirt designs for sights like threadless, ript appareal , and tee fury. I had submitted a couple of designs off to the latter companies with no luck. In their defense, the designs were not very good. So, I just submitted another design over at threadless. I will have to admit, the design is silly. And I might have to make changes to get the text right. IE: (Getting Smeagols name right. I spelt it Smeagle.) I might see if I can do that this evening. But, I really want this design to be picked up. I need you all's help. It is up for review right now, but please, please help me spread word about this to everyone you know. And... when the time comes, go vote for it... if you can. I hope you like it. I have some other ideas to put on paper, but for now figured I would start with this one.

*Update! Hold off on trying to vote for the design. I'll have to do a couple of edits and re-submit the design off. *

*Update to update! I have resubmitted the deign. Keep your fingers crossed that it goes through! Here's the link. *

Xenex & Unstoppable Force table at Sci-fi Expo (Your Participaion Warning #1)

I'll be flying these banners at the Sci-fi Expo.
Hey everyone! Another convention has snuck into my life reminding me that I need to reach out to you all and let you all know that I have a table at the upcoming convention is Dallas's Sci-Fi Expo! I had so, SO much fun at the Fan Days Star Wars Convention that I decided to do another before the big Dallas Comic Con of 2012 occurs.
The Sci-fi Expo will be located at the Irving Convention Center who's address is 500 W Las Colinas Blvd Irving , TX (At intersection of 114 and NW Highway). General admission is $15.00. Parking at the Convention hall is $5.00. The show dates are February 11-12, 2012 (Saturday 11:00AM - 6:00PM & Sunday 11:00AM - 4:00PM).
This Sci-fi Expo promises to be a good show. They will have the majority of Serenity's crew from the show Firefly (I love that show) and Eliza Dushku (She's cute)! They'll have a large guest selection of comic book artists and writers (You'll have to go to the site to see who). Also, unlisted but will be there, is a large group of independent and small press comic book creators, artists and publishers including moi, yours truly, Taylor, the toy Guru and art heathen, Lymbery! (Hey it's my blog! I get to play up my name if I want!)
Now, I'm guessing that you are going to the show to see the stars and starlets of television. You may even have plans to get a couple of issues signed by the Comic Book industry's best, but I ask that you please, please (Don't make me beg) go to see the small press peeps in artist alley. We need your fanly support! Seriously, we need the fan's support. We need you buy from us and keep the projects you love to read rolling! And that's an honest to gosh, Boy Scout honor truth!
If you do go, and you do go and help support the little man, then please, please stop by my table to visit. If you want (knock on wood) you will buy a couple of art pieces, or prints, or comics from me. I know that this request seems a bit much. It's almost like I'm begging, and to tell the truth, I am (rather shamelessly). You see, I'll be there alone, and I need the company. Both Rob and Jordan, who are usually there with me, won't be attending due to busy schedules, so I will need you, the fan, to help keep me sane whilst I am there (I'm actually kidding about keeping me sane...or am I).
Posters and Prints available at the Sci-Fi Expo from my Booth.
What will I have to sell? I'll tell you. I'll have the Cowboy Clone Trooper pin-ups. They are going to be $5. I have about 50 of them left. Once they are all sold, then that's it! I will not print anymore. Also, I'll have 11x17" posters there of Sarah the Pin-up girl, Miranda Fly Girl, and Power Meal Rangers. They will be $15 each. I will have 20 of Sarah, 18 of the Rangers and 10 of Miranda. Oh, and I'll sign them for FREE! I'll also have a small stack of Xenex issues 1-3 and the Giant Sized issue of Unstoppable Force. Xenex issues will be $4 per issue or $10.00 for all three and get a Xenex 11" X 17" poster! I'll also have color sheet artwork of sci-fi characters like the FanDays show back in October. Prices will vary on them. If you are interested, I'll also have my other artwork out on display. Prices on those will vary too.  If you are interested in a piece, just ask me.
Books for Unstoppable Force and Xenex the Bug Man will be available at my booth.
And of coarse I will have free magnets and postcards for those who want them.
Come by and say hello. If anything, come by and get some free stuff from me. So clear your schedule and plan to be in Irving the weekend of the 11th and 12th of February 2012!

Pin-up girl, Jules (Revisist of Studio back up and running)

So this is just a revisit posting for anyone that wanted to see how the pin-up girl from the other day turned out, here's your chance. I have her (Jules) posted in my deviantart.com gallery. I hope you like it. She takes after the Rosy the Riveter pin-up, just modernized. I like that she seems tough, but has a certain "cute" immaturity to her. So far I would say that this has been my best coloring yet. I colored it in a little less than three hours from flats to details. If I have time, I'll get prints made of her for the upcoming Sci-fi Expo convention. If I don't I'll definitely have prints made of her for the Dallas Comic Con in May.
