Second painting

Recently I posted a painting that I had been working on, off and on for while, the other day on deviantart. The response was a load better than what I had been expecting. Keeping that in mind, I have decided to try my hand at another one. Now, for you all that know that I have a lot on my plate, this is something that I work on in my bits of spare time. I am still working on the comic. Xenex is almost done with its writing. And then, I knock out those pages. And yes, I am still working on the promised pin-ups. I will have to admit though, I am really enjoying the painting process and now have even more respect for Earl Norem and the painting illustrators of the past. I might actually consider painting the cover of the first Xenex book (issue 1-? bound together in graphic novel form). We'll see. But for now, you can enjoy what I have so far of the second painting.

The Move and the Pin-up Girl

So I am moving. Well, I should say my wife and I are moving. What does this have to do with a pin up girl? Well, not much. But as I looked at my rather bare walls and saw the only art up was my recent line art of an alternative pin up girl, I was saddened a little. You see, since I have been in the illustration field, considering myself a professional self published illustrator, I have done all of that work in this room. My first issue was drawn in this office, not that it matters much. I'll move into a better place, in a better town, and everything will be great. Now I know that this pinup girl will not be the last drawn in this office, but she is to be the first symbol, to me, of a new beginning and better dwelling. Here's to three good starting years at this room to be called the first Red Turtle Comics Studio! Hip, hip, horyeah!

Movember Participation

Ok, I have registered to participate in the Movember fund raising program. Here's a little about it. 

ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN

During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in the US and around the world. With their Mo’s, these men raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.



On Movember 1st, guys register at Movember.com with a clean-shaven face. For the rest of the month, these selfless and generous men, known as Mo Bros, groom, trim and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery. Supported by the women in their lives, Mo Sistas, Movember Mo Bros raise funds by seeking out sponsorship for their Mo-growing efforts.

Mo Bros effectively become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November. Through their actions and words they raise awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men’s health. 

At the end of the month, Mo Bros and Mo Sistas celebrate their gallantry and valor by either throwing their own Movember party or attending one of the infamous Gala Partés held around the world by Movember, for Movember.  



The Movember Effect: Awareness & Education, Survivorship, Research
The funds raised in the US support prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men. The funds raised are directed to programs run directly by Movember and our men’s health partners, the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG, the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Together, the three channels work together to ensure that Movember funds are supporting a broad range of innovative, world-class programs in line with our strategic goals in the areas of awareness and education, survivorship and research.

Movember - a global movement
Since its humble beginnings in Melbourne Australia, Movember has grown to become a truly global movement inspiring more than 1.1 Million Mo Bros and Mo Sistas to participate with formal campaigns in Australia, New Zealand, the US, Canada, the UK, Finland, the Netherlands, Spain, South Africa and Ireland. In addition, Movember is aware of Mo Bros and Mo Sistas supporting the campaign and men’s health cause across the globe, from Russia to Dubai, Hong Kong to Antarctica, Rio de Janeiro to Mumbai, and everywhere in between.

No matter the country or city, Movember will continue to work to change established habits and attitudes men have about their health, to educate men about the health risks they face, and to act on that knowledge, thereby increasing the chances of early detection, diagnosis and effective treatment. 

In 2010, over 64,500 US Mo Bros and Mo Sistas got on board, raising $7.5 million USD.
