Taylor's Toy Tuesday's DIY Custom- Jawa

Utinni! It's the Jawa! Currently I'm reading the Star Wars Novel, and I love the description of the Jawas that is in the book. These creatures smell horrible! They are really dirty! I really wanted to get a sense of their smell with the filthying of this toy's cloak. I really wanted him to look dirty. I made this guy off of a Rose Art Easter Key Chain Colorblank 2 pack. I picked this 2 pack up way back in the day and decided that a Jawa is perfect for it's body type. In scale to the other Star Wars customs that I have, this Jawa falls right  into perfect scale with the others. Only the head turns, and at one point, I didn't think it would. When I had pulled the head off of the body to customize the head, the joint was so tight that it stretched and warped the neck post softening the plastic to the point that the head did not want to go back on. I ended up filling the body with hot glue to add strength to the neck stem. It worked! Now his arms do not move. They were molded to his sides with the original Colorblank sculpt. So the other problem I ran into with this guy was that I made a gun for it to hold, but after I added the fabric, he didn't want to hold the gun. The Gun would have pushed against his body and into his semi open hand. It failed. But I couldn't just get rid of the gun, the vintage action figure had one! I ended up taking a piece of fabric and glueing it together to create a loop. I put the gun in and painted the fabric with clear nail polish to harden the fabric. Now I can take the gun out and the fabric holds it's shape. This was a fun one to make, but I hope to not have to do another anytime soon. I ran into a lot of trouble with this guy, and I think it was due to his size. Now, I've got some important updates, so more pictures will be at the end of this posting. Enjoy the pics. I've got to get back to illustrating comic books! :)

My Star Trek Tees are ready to be voted for! You'll have to create an account for welovefine or sign in to your account to vote but never mind that; go vote! I'll leave links for the shirts below their respective picture.

Cortical Stimulator design by Taylor Lymbery

I could almost make a drinking game on how many times the mighty cortical stimulator has saved someone's life! Go see this design on welovefine.com here!

Oh, Chakotay! design by Taylor Lymbery
No one can melt Captain Janeway's heart away like this Maquis hunk, leaving Katherine only saying, "Oh, Chakotay!" Go see this design on welovefine.com here!

Child's Play design by Taylor Lymbery
It seems silly, but every kid that liked star trek that I knew, wanted an Enterprise to ride around on. It would've been awesome. Go see this design on welovefine.com here!

Space Anomaly design by Taylor Lymbery
There was one episode in the Voyager series where Neelix asked why Voyager had to go and inspect every anomaly it came across. Shortly after, the ship was trapped in a sub-space hole in a nebula; and then after that, about to be devoured by a living ion cloud monster; and then after that... You get the picture. Go see this design on welovefine.com here!

Tricorder Theatre
I've read that the scene in Generations where Data is using his tricorder as a puppet, is thought to be one of the worst jokes in the Star Trek universe. When I saw this scene in the theater, I laughed so hard I had soda shoot through my nostrils! Needless to say, I still find it kind of funny. Don't judge... Go see this design on welovefine.com here!

Just a quick update: I did go ahead and purchase a table for the Fan Days Convention in October. I'll be there with a ton of new work to sell, a new issue of Xenex the Bug Man and new posters. So I'll see you there!

There's been an update to the store tabs on both Xenex the Bug Man, and this site. All of the print on demand issues, cafepress stores and commissions info will be under the new store tab on both this site and the Xenex the Bug Man site. Hopefully this page makes shopping a bit easier. Go and check it out!

I just updated the Xenex the Bug Man website with rather grand news that the long awaited issue 4 is now up for order. It's a great looking comic book! Head on over to the Bug Man site and see what I'm talking about!

Now, you mighty be asking what this Marvin Dog media is. I've got answers. I had been working with a good friend of mine, Jeff McGee, before I got sick on designing logos and banners for a podcast that I am on and logos and banners of podcasts that other friends are on. I have listened to all of the shows so far and they are great! Jeff and I are on the show where we talk about toys! (Go figure, I mean Go action figure!) That show is called Talking toys with Taylor and Jeff. The other two shows are The pilot episode, where Jeff and Josh Taylor break down the Pilot Episode in TV series, and The Loosely Based Podcast where Brynna and Jeff compare the book to the movie adaptation! Again, the shows are great! If you are interested in what we got, go to Marvindogmedia.com  and give us a listen. You can subscribe to the shows on itunes and get up to date info on upcoming shows on facebook:
Talking Toys with Taylor and Jeff on facebook
The Loosely Based Podcast on facebook

Give us a like! And, if you like what we have, be sure to tell your friends! We need your word of mouth to help us keep making shows!
