Mossman has to be one of my favorite Masters of the Universe characters of all time, so it was just a matter of time till I got around to doing a custom vinyl figurine for him. I am so happy with how this guy turned out. I made him from a Creatology Ape vinyl DIY toy kit. When I saw this kit, I automatically thought of Mossman. That's a good feeling when that happens. I made some Sculpey clay pieces that I blended in to the vinyl and painted over all of it. My Mossman is flocked with model grass. I felt that was fitting considering he is the master of the environment. Instead of giving him the traditional mace, I decided to give him a spiked mace with a wrapped vine to add to the detailing of the club portion. I used the greatest gold paint mixed with a little yellow for the armor. The gold paint is called, "Aztec Gold"! Brilliant! I talked about Aztec Gold for about two weeks before my sweetheart told me it was getting old. I do feel that I need to re-flock the back of his arms to cover the white that is showing through the flocking. I just need to find the right color mix of paint and glue again. I'll get this done before the next convention. I'm thinking of having the three customs I've done so far at the Fan Days Convention. Our sketch card of the day is the Horde Trooper! When I was a kid, I searched everywhere for this action figure! I really wanted one! Not only was this guy bigger than all of the other Masters of the Universe figures, but he also had a cool action feature of falling apart when you hit a big red button on his chest! Yeah! Think about it, if my Fisto action figure hit the Horde Trooper square in the chest, this guy would fall apart! This seems silly, but even now I am quite excited about the idea. Action features on toys, back when was a kid, was a deal breaker for me. Other than the really cool toy, the horde trooper was nothing more than a mindless robot that built up Hordak's army. The cartoon portrayed them as a basic army builder. There is not a lot to say about them having a back story or even a story to be excited about. The Horde Trooper action figure went to store shelves back in 1986. I never found one to add to my collection. These days I will check out the prices on ebay, and they are rather expensive for not being complete and really expensive if it has it's staff. I really don't see me getting one, because I just don't have the extra money for this. So far, there is no word of if Mattel will do a Masters of the Universe Classics version of this guy. If they do, I might look into getting one, but that depends on it's action feature...You can also see this art piecehere.

Our sketch card of the day is Scorpia! Let me start off by saying that I don't like scorpions. I'm a bit of an arachnephobe. So characters like Scorpia and Webstor should make me weary of them, but that's not the case. I'm not sure why that is. Scorpia is a part of the She-Ra universe. There's not a lot of information on her that I could find so I'll go off of what I remember. Scorpia was featured on the She-Ra Princess of Power cartoon. She is a part of the Evil Horde. Like the name indicates, she is part scorpion. Now this sketch card is based a little off of some fan art of her look if she was included in the 200X series. Personally, after seeing the one episode of the 200X cartoon that has Hordak and his basic MOTU crew beautifully envisioned, I would have loved to see her design tackled by the same cartoon designers. No official toy has been made of her. At first I was not going to do this sketch card due to the fact that she did not have a toy made of her, but this card was a commission. The purchase was made by a good acquaintance of mine by the name of Keith E. Kimball. So, as I did some research on her to learn some background, I stumbled across this. There are a few toys made of her by Lulu Berlu. Lulu Berlu also made the custom bootleg run of Shadow Weavers on the Masters of the Universe cards. So, in the long run, I didn't break my silent rule of sketch cards for toys. I want to thank Keith for the commission, cause I would probably have never stumbled onto this cool nugget of information! I'm not sure if Mattel plans of making her in the Classics line or not. I kind of hope that they do, but I'm not holding my breath. But... if they do, I'll probably try to get one. card of the day is Gwildor! Gwildor is a character that was made specifically for the 1987 Cannon film, "Masters of the Universe". He is responsible for creating the Cosmic Key, a devise that brought He-Man and crew to Earth for a short while. He was portrayed by the actor Billy Barty. Even though this character is not an exact match, Gwildor is the Orko of the live action He-man world. I know he's not Orko, but he's a fun character to have in the universe! I love the movie and I'm a bit of an apologist for the film even though I take a lot of flack from my friends and family for liking the He-man movie. Now, this card is based more on the 1987 Mattel action figure, than the actual film appearance of Gwildor. There's not a lot of difference between the look of the two, except that the action figure is a little more colorful. The one big difference between the two is the cosmic key. The action figure's cosmic key is way, way off from how it looks in the movie. I can imagine that Mattel wanted to get the movie toys sculpted before the designs were finally approved. I believe that is not uncommon for toy companies to do. I am currently looking for a complete Gwildor action figure. There is not a lot of articulation with the toy, and his cosmic key can be considered kind of lame, but I have always wanted this him! I guess the child in me is excited about this character because in 1987, he's responsible for bringing He-Man a little closer to home. You can also see
