Sketch Card of the Day- Stinkor!

Stinkor Sketch Card by Taylor Lymbery
Today's deviation is Stinkor! Most of my friends that know of Stinkor, don't hold him in as high of regard as I do. You see, I REALLY like this character. He was one that I sought after as a kid, but never could find. I wasn't able to get one till years later and his evil stench of patchouli oil is completely worn off leaving only the stench of play-doh. (I'm guessing he wasn't brought out into the world a lot and lived in the dark forgotten space of the toy box.) I like this character for a couple of reasons. First, Stinkor is the perfect example of reused parts from other characters in the line. He uses the body of Mer-man, the armor of Mekaneck and the shield from Castle Grayskull, and yet we get a completely new toy! Second, Stinkor is the focus character of my absolute favorite 200X episode of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, "The Sweet Smell of Victory", which is the funniest episode from that series in my opinion! Good stuff...well smelly, but good. So, now that you see how much I like this Skunk man evil warrior of odious odors, you can bet that I will try my hand at getting a Stinkor action figure in the Classics line this month. I just have to keep my fingers crossed and my breath held... Well maybe just my fingers crossed. You can also see this sketch card here.

Now, I'm going to have a bunch of these sketch cards available at the Dallas Comic Con. I'll be selling them for $10. I am also opening commissions of sketch cards. They will also be $10 + shipping and handling which will be $6 in the continental United States of America. I'll have to get a quote for any territories outside of that. I will also open up my colored page line drawings for commissions. Same price as the sketch cards, but I'll have to check on the shipping (due to the difference in size). If you want to see what I mean by colored sheet drawing, go here. If you want a sketch card, send me an e-mail to taylorlymbery@gmail.com. Name your character and we will go from there.

The Convention will be May 19th-20th. It will be at the Irving Convention Center that is located at 500 W Las Colinas Blvd. , Irving, TX. Tickets for Saturday will be $25.00 for 11:00am to 7:00pm, and tickets for Sunday will be $20.00 for 11:00am to 4:00pm. If you happen to go to the Convention, stop by and say hi to Rob and I.

Sketch Card of the Day- Man-E-Faces!

Man-E-Faces Sketch Card by Taylor Lymbery

Today's deviation is Man-E-Faces, and just to let you know, he's not two faced, but threed! Ok, that was bad, but in the humor of being "two faced", he would actually be three faced. So does that make him like the plot twist of Indianan Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, with the multitude of poorly written triple agent character changes? No. Man-E is much better than that. Much better. He has three faces that help him with different superpowers. It's kind of like a dial a strength on the top of your head, if your face was in a television box of sorts. His first face is a human face, so this would be his heroic face. Not sure what the power is on this face, but I'll say it's WILL power. Second face would be a monster face, and this face is STRENGTH! Lastly, his third face is his robotic face. This face would be the face of LOGIC. I don't remember Faces that much in the vintage cartoon series, but he played a big role in the 200X one. I would say that he is arguably one of my favorite characters, and yes, I do own a full run of Man-E-Faces from vintage to 200X to Classics. This sketch card of Man-E is based on the Classic figure which is based on the vintage package art. You can also see this sketch card here.

Sketch Card of the Day- Rattlor!

Today's deviation is Rattlor! Rattlor is the "general" of the snake men. He would be in second command of all snake men right behind King Hsss. One of the things that I liked about Rattlor is that he is the only snake man that is red. The vintage figure has the rattle feature with him. Just shake him and his enemies will be weary. His other action feature is his striking neck. Now I'm going to let his super long neck slide unlike Mekeneck's due to the fact that nature made him this way. So, you would push a button on this back and his neck would shoot out of his body and stop to look as though the neck grew to strike out at an enemy! It sounds kind of silly, but it is very effective! I have a vintage figure that I was showing my best friend's kid, and she initially jumped. Then she would make the snake hissing noise before the neck would shoot out! Now the 200X version did the same. But, I don't have one of the 200X version. They were short lived and hard to find. I am keeping my figures crossed to find one of the 200x Rattlor and Kobra Khan, but I'm not holding my breath. This sketch card is based on the vintage figure's look, but with the 200X chest armor. You can also see this sketch card here.

DIY Vinyl Toy Custom of the Month- Spikor!

Spikor Custom Toy by Taylor Lymbery
Oh, Spikor! You really are a silly creation! So I'm back at it with making my second Roseart Color Blank Custom action figure. And I have to admit, I really, REALLY enjoy making these, but this one was REALLY challenging! (The initial head paint rubbed off. I accidentally broke the head off at one point. I couldn't get the arms to go back into the body. The mace melded itself into his right hand due to the size of the open grasp.) Problems. But, when I finished up this guy, I couldn't help but be very proud of his customizing work I had done. I really like him! I'm torn on if I want to sell this guy or not. For now, I think I'll hold on to him. I do have some more Color Blanks that I was able to get on the cheap, but I have some illustration work to do before I get to another.

P.S. There's more pics after all of the important promotion!

Sketch Card of the Day- Sy-Klone!

Sy-Klone Sketch Card by Taylor Lymbery
Today's deviation is Sy-Klone! When I was a kid, my friend had a Sy-Klone action figure. I never thought much of the heroic warrior of , well, tornados and wind, until now. This guy has to be the brightest colored character from the line. He basically has three main colors, and all three colors are primaries! Yep! Nothing screams PlaySkool toy box like Sy-Klone here. So with calling out his bright colors, I definitely wouldn't put him in the stealth team of heroic warriors unless the team is sneaking into a playdoh factory. Sy-Klone also had a movement sticker on his chest that mimicked a radar when you moved this guy from side to side. BUT, these two characteristics is not the best thing about him; he has a wind action feature! You might be asking at this point, "What is a wind action feature?". Well, he had a wheel on his back that if you spun it, his upper torso would spin around. And his arms were hinged loosely to flail up and down, so when he was spun, his arms would swing outward and hit things! It's a simple idea, but it works so well. Let's just say that I was so impressed with this figure in my older age that I did get a vintage and a 200X. I haven't got a Classics version yet, sadly. He is on my collecting radar but is not top of the list due to the lack of his action feature that is not on that version (just a nod to). This envisioning of Sy-Klone is a mix of the vintage and the 200X. You can also see this sketch card here.

Now, I'm going to have a bunch of these sketch cards available at the Dallas Comic Con. I'll be selling them for $10. I am also opening commissions of sketch cards.
